Level 3 Audiovisual Provides 3,200 Meals and Helps Pack Another 28,080 Meals with Feed My Starving Children
This quarter we took it back to an organization we have worked with in the past, Feed My Starving Children! FMSC is a nonprofit organization empowering volunteers to pack meals for the malnourished in nearly 70 countries, hungry in body and spirit. With most of our team working remote now, we saw this as a great opportunity to gather our colleagues, friends and family members and work together in support of a wonderful cause. Through our donation efforts we were able to cover the costs of 3,200 meals, feeding 8 children for a year! Through our volunteer efforts, we were able to help pack 28,080 meals, feeding 76 children for a year!
How Volunteering Works
The process is simple. Our team was assigned tables and each person took a station at the table. It starts by scooping rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags. The bags are then weighed, sealed, boxed, and placed on pallets to be shipped. It is a fun team building activity for a very worthwhile cause.
About Feed My Starving Children
FMSC means it when they say: “We want to reach everyone, until ALL are fed.” No one deserves to go hungry, especially when we can do something about it. Yet, every year, millions of children die from preventable causes such as pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, and undernutrition. Hunger is still causing nearly half of deaths in children under 5 years old. From this data, we estimate at least 6,200 children die each day from causes related to undernutrition.
FMSC was founded in 1987 and began working to develop an effective and nutritious meal formula. With the help of a team of Cargill food scientists and colleagues from General Mills and Pillsbury, a vitamin-and-mineral fortified rice meal was created specifically for malnourished children around the age of five years old. In 1994 2,409 volunteers packed 400,000 meals and by 2017 more than 1.2 million volunteers packed more than 333 million meals!
Thank you
We are so blessed at Level 3 Audiovisual to be in a place to give back. We want to thank everyone who got involved, helped organize, donated, and volunteered at the packing event. Without the help of our employees, friends, and families, this wouldn’t have been possible.
What’s Next
Stay tuned for our next philanthropy event, in which we focus our Giving Back efforts on the National Ovarian Cancer Collation. The mission of the NOCC is to save lives through the prevention and cure of ovarian cancer and to improve quality of life for survivors and their caregivers. There will be a walk in Gilbert, Arizona, along with many more ways to support this cause! Learn more here.
