PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Powering the Future of Health Education
Creating a Smart Learning Environment at Scale
When Pima Community College (PCC) set out to renovate its Center of Excellence in Health Professions, the vision was clear: provide students with cutting-edge environments for learning, simulation, and collaboration. To match that ambition, PCC needed a technology partner with the expertise and operational capacity to outfit dozens of highly specialized rooms across its Tucson campus.
Enter Level 3 Audiovisual, a trusted AV integrator with deep experience in higher education and large-scale, multi-room projects.
A Complex Project Designed for Future Flexibility
This wasn’t a simple classroom AV upgrade. Pima Community College’s project included more than 45 unique spaces supporting a wide range of use cases from high-fidelity simulation to active learning, conferencing, collaboration, and beyond.
Here’s a breakdown of the space types:
- 10 Skills Labs
- 7 Conference Rooms
- 6 Classrooms
- 5 Huddle Rooms
- 4 Meeting Rooms
- 3 ALT Classrooms
- 3 Debrief Rooms
- 2 Collaboration Rooms
- Plus: Control Room, Simulation Exam Rooms, Anatomy Lab, Augmented Reality, Nursing Station, Community Room, and more.
Each space required a tailored technology package including displays, video conferencing, assistive listening, control systems, DSP audio processing, and centralized management.
Building Consistency Through AV9000 Standards
With such a broad and complex deployment, consistency and quality were critical. Level 3 Audiovisual integrated its AV9000-certified process into each stage of the project, from design verification and lab testing to onsite commissioning. AV9000 is an industry-specific quality management system that ensures every system performs reliably, is fully documented, and meets the agreed-upon functionality. For a project spanning dozens of spaces, this helped reduce surprises in the field and created a predictable, repeatable installation process.
Choosing an integrator with auditable quality standards allowed PCC to confidently scale their AV investment across a wide range of room types, all backed by a standardized and auditable workflow designed to minimize downtime and ensure user satisfaction.

This was a true team effort. Coordinating across dozens of rooms, contractors, trades, and schedules takes serious attention to detail. But with a solid process and an experienced team, we delivered a future-ready system PCC can rely on.

More Than Installation: Ongoing Partnership
Following the completion of this extensive AV deployment, Pima Community College entered into a Comprehensive Support & Maintenance Agreement (CSMA) with Level 3 Audiovisual. This agreement formalizes a long-term service relationship, ensuring the systems implemented continue to operate at peak performance.
Under the CSMA, PCC benefits from:
- Unlimited remote and onsite break-fix support
- Scheduled preventative maintenance across all supported systems
By signing a CSMA, PCC ensures not only continuity and system uptime but also reduces the burden on internal IT staff. The agreement provides peace of mind that issues will be addressed quickly by a team already familiar with the college’s infrastructure, reinforcing Level 3 Audiovisual’s role as a long-term partner.
Why It Matters
For higher education institutions like Pima Community College, AV isn’t just an add-on, it’s critical infrastructure for teaching, learning, and preparing students for the real world. By upgrading their spaces with scalable, supported, and smart AV systems, PCC is investing in a better learning experience and smoother operations across the board.
